Import Ethereum (EVM) Accounts

Talisman allows you to effortlessly import your accounts from Metamask. In this article, you'll learn how to import your EVM accounts using your recovery phrase or private key.

1: Export your private key or recovery phrase from Metamask

Recovery Phrase

1. From popup, select “settings” which can be accessed by clicking the three dot menu on the top right corner.

2. Select “Security & Privacy".

3. Select “ Reveal Secret Recovery Phrase”.

4. To reveal your secret Recovery Phrase, first you will need to answer the security questions.

5. Input your account password. Click “Next” after you’ve completed this.

6. Now you may export your Recovery Phrase and store it in a secure place. You will need this key later, to import your accounts into Talisman.

Private Key

1. From popup, select “Account Details” which can be accessed by clicking the three three dot menu on the top right corner.

2. Select “Show Private Key”.

3. Enter your password.

4. Click and hold the button highlighted in blue to reveal your Private Key.

5. Now you may copy your Private Key to a secure place. You will need this key later, to import your accounts into Talisman.

2: Import Your EVM Accounts Into Talisman

1. From the popup, select “More Options” as indicated by the three dots.

2. Select “Add Account”.

3. Select "Import" then select "Import via Recovery Phrase".

4. To import an EVM account, choose “ Ethereum” as your account type.

5. Type a name for your account and enter your recovery phase or private key (both will work here).

6. Select “Import First Account” to import an individual account (there is also the option to import multiple derived accounts or choose a custom derivation path). Thereafter, select import.
